A pregnancy test can give you peace of mind
WHEN IS THE BEST TIME TO TAKE A PREGNANCY TEST?
We recommend that a pregnancy test be conducted once someone has missed the first day of her period. However, the amount of hCG the body produces varies greatly. Therefore, some women may not have a positive test until 31 days after the first day of her last period.
HOW ACCURATE ARE YOUR TESTS?
Our pregnancy tests are one of the most sensitive urine-based tests available, detecting concentrations of hCG as low as 20mIU/ml.
IF MY URINE TEST IS NEGATIVE, SHOULD I GET A BLOOD TEST?
Only under rare circumstances would this be necessary. If a pregnancy is still suspected, another urine specimen should be collected 48 hours later and tested. If the test is still negative it is recommended that you should consult with a physician.
WHY HAVE AN ULTRASOUND?
Our Medical Center has a Registered Nurse who is trained in Limited Obstetrical Ultrasound. An ultrasound can give you peace of mind about your pregnancy and give you information that you need.
Limited Obstetrical Ultrasound is used for the following 3 reasons:
To find a pregnancy inside the uterus.
To find a viable pregnancy (heartbeat).
To find a gestational age by taking measurements.
We DO NOT provide a diagnosis of gender or abnormalities.
OPTIONS COUNSELING
If you are pregnant, Life Choices of Central Michigan has specially trained advocates and our RNs who will sit and talk with you in a private setting and caring environment about all of your options. You have three options to think about: parenting, adoption and abortion. It is important to take your time, ask all your questions, and think carefully about your decision. Only you can decide which option is right for you.
